The Washingtonian Magazine has issued a statement apologizing after coming under fire for showing a lack of diversity in a campaign called "I Am Not A Tourist."

The local magazine recently launched the campaign with a line of T-shirts that read "I'm Not A Tourist. I Live Here." But it didn't take long for social media users to call them out for a lack of diversity after rolling out several photos on Instagram.

On Monday, before the post was deleted, WPGC radio reports there were hundreds of comments under the post that called them out on it.

As Instagram Joe Clair points out there wasn't one single black person in any of the photos.

The Washingtonian has since deleted the Instagram rollout, stating in part,"This was the very beginning of a campaign in which all intentions are to include the many communities that make up our city. We solicited pictures from a diverse group of people and put the pictures up in the order they came in. People who saw the initial gallery of pictures had no way of knowing that it was not, in fact, the entirety of the marketing campaign."

According to the 2017 U.S. Census Bureau, the black or African American population alone makes up about 47.7 percent of D.C.
