Costco lifts some entry restrictions for its stores

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Costco is lifting some restrictions that were put in place because of the coronavirus.

Almost two months ago, the chain instituted a policy of limiting the number of people allowed in the store to just two people per membership card.

Costco's coronavirus response page--last updated on May 13--no longer includes the two-person card restriction. This change went into effect on Monday in Utah, according to a manager at Costco in Salt Lake City.

It's also been two weeks since Costco returned most of its stores to regular shopping hours after limiting them in March.

However, social distancing and masks are still required for all members and guests.

All beef, pork and poultry purchases are temporarily limited to three items per person.

Costco is allowing members to use their own reusable shopping bags as long as they pack the bags themselves. Local restrictions may apply.

Costco is not accepting returns on certain items, including:

• Toilet paper
• Bottled water
• Sanitizing wipes
• Paper towels
• Rice
• Disinfecting spray
