Dolly Parton gets vaccinated for COVID-19 with a 'dose of her own medicine'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Dolly Parton has now received her COVID-19 vaccination. The country legend shared a photo of herself getting the Moderna shot.

"Dolly gets a dose of her own medicine," the tweet said.

“I’m finally going to get my vaccine. I’m so excited! I’ve been waiting a while. I’m old enough to get it, and I’m smart enough to get it," Dolly said, adding: “I wanted to tell everybody that you should get out there and do it too.”

She even changed her song "Jolene" for the occasion and sang, "Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m beggin’ of you please don’t hesitate” prior to receiving her vaccination.

Dolly also delivered a strong message for people not wanting their vaccines: “So, I just want to say to all you cowards out there, don’t be such a chicken squat, get out there and get your shot.”

Dr. Naji Abumrad administered Dolly’s vaccine at Vanderbilt in Nashville. At the onset of the pandemic, Dolly made a $1 million donation to the doctor and his team of researchers at Vanderbilt. Her contribution ended up helping in the discovery of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
