ORLANDO, Fla. (WKRC) - Disney just announced a slew of new attractions coming to their iconic amusement parks, including a few brand new rides and lands.
The Walt Disney Company announced a few changes and additions coming to their Walt Disney World amusement park in Orlando, Florida during their D23 annual showcase on Saturday.
The first two major announcements were two brand-new rides coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom. One would be themed after the Indiana Jones films and the other after "Encanto".
Billy Crystal, all-star actor and voice of Mike Wazowski, announced a new "Monsters Inc" area that was being developed in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Not much was revealed yet, but he did confirm a ride themed around the film's door factory. The ride will be Disney's first suspended roller coaster, mimicking the way the doors hang from the metal conveyor track in the movie.
A new land was announced for Magic Kingdom as well. Inspired by the iconic Disney villains throughout the company's storied history, Villains Land will include attractions that pay homage to (or even feature) characters like Ursula, The Evil Queen, and Jafar. Again, not much has yet been revealed, but a TikTok videoconfirmed the land would include "two major attractions, dining, and shopping."
Disney also announced some smaller attractions, like a "Zootopia" show in Animal Kingdom or a new nighttime parade for Magic Kingdom.
Additionally, Disney World is finally getting some love from Piston Springs, as two "Cars" rides are in development in Magic Kingdom's Frontierland.
The last major parks announcement was an update on the Tropical Americas expansion of Animal Kingdom which will replace Dino-Land U.S.A. with biodiverse region that "has been the inspiration for so many magical stories over the years," according to Josh D'Amaro, Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
