PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — A newly posted video from a Rhode Island zoo shows an adorable moment between a mother sloth and her baby.
In the video mother sloth Fiona is sharing kisses with her baby Jeffrey at Roger Williams Park and Zoo.
The sloth pup was recently named Jeffrey, in honor of a zookeeper’s family member who recently passed, the zoo said.
Jeffery was born in August and the zoo says he spent the first month staying close to his mother.
A previous post by the zoo noted the baby sloth's arrival is significant for the zoo and the sloth population worldwide, as well as the zoo's Linne’s Two-Toed Sloth Species Survival Plan, which focuses on breeding to ensure the survival of a species.
The two can be seen in the Faces of the Rainforest exhibit.
