FORT MYERS, Fla. (CBS12) — The Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) said a young man went into a Bass Pro Shops and took a 50-pound live fish from the store's tank.
According to the sheriff's office, the young manentered the Bass Pro Shops in Gulf Coast Town Center in Fort Myers on Wednesday evening. Then, with a fishnet in hand, took the tarponfrom the store’s indoor fish pond.
Video taken by a witness shows the thief fleeing the store with the fish thrashing around in the net.
Detectives are working on identifying the culprit and areworking with LCSO's Animal Cruelty Task Force, MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife, and SWFL Crime Stoppers in an attempt to locate those involved.
The sheriff's office said, "We guess you could say THIS one will o-fish-ially catch your eye."
