CRANSTON, R.I. (WJAR) — The moon has appeared "regular"-sized for much of 2021, but that changes for April's full moon.

The Pink Moon is the first super moon of the year, and it will light up the sky Monday night. Send your pictures of it using Chime In!

It will rise at 7:15 p.m. EST Monday, not long before the sun sets, and will appear bright throughout the night.

Though there is pink in the name, this moon won't have a different color. It's April, and plants and flowers and blooming! The pink comes from the phlox subulata, which appears pink.

The full moon has other names too, such as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon and the Fish Moon. All are related to the spring.
