CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Nothing is worse than plugging your smartphone in to charge only to come back an hour later and find it not ready to go.
Scientists are attempting to solve this issue and make life a little easier for the everyday smartphone user.
A new group of materials called niobium tungsten oxides is said to possibly help battery performance with a faster charge and high-power output.
This is discussed in a study done in the science journal Nature.
According to the report, this new group of materials allow particles to move hundreds of times more quickly than they would through materials used in your phone's battery.
One would assume this magical-like technology asset would be expensive but according to the author of the study the material is cheap and simple.
Not only may this group of materials be used to assist in society's smartphone struggles but it could also be used for environmental purposes.
Scientists hope to apply this technology to electric cars, buses and grid-scale solar panels in the future.
