WASHINGTON (WJLA) - Protesters in inflatable eagle suits are marching (flapping?) on D.C. Monday in a rally against programs that would be cut under President Donald Trump's 2019 budget.

The protest was organized byService Year Alliance and is meant to show Congress the group's displeasure over theelimination of national service programs like AmeriCorps and cuts made to the Peace Corps included in the 2019 White House budget.

"Just as the bald eagle overcame extinction in the 1970s and is now thriving, hundreds of advocates are coming together to fight the extinction of national service in the President’s 2019 budget and expand it," the group said in a statement. "It’s time to let national service soar."

The formal rally is scheduled to go from 11:30 a.m. to noon but members of the eagle-clad group were out raising support for their cause in front of the White House from about 8 to 9:30 a.m. They were scheduled to march through Metro stops at Capital South, Gallery Place and Union Station, the White House, Dupont Circle and the Lincoln Memorial before their main demonstration in front of the U.S. Capitol.
