Some say you’re never too old to be young, and a new addition to the Tennessee Aquarium is reminding even adults that sometimes it’s okay to just let go and be a kid.

That new addition is one you really otter see, according to everyone WTVC spoke with for this story.

Sunshine, a 2-year-old otter, isbreaking up the boys' club at the Tennessee Aquarium's River Otter exhibit.

"She is the queen of the castle. She’s our only female and females are a little bit more solitary," said animal care specialist Jennifer Wawra.

Sunshine is the first female otter in the aquarium's 31-year history. She arrived in June from the Little Rock Zoo.

While her five male otter neighbors were raised in the wild, Sunshine was raised by humans.

"She is just very high energy, which is great, but also a little challenging when you try new training because you're like, Oh, I just need you to hold still. And that's not happening. But she's very interactive with our guests," Wawra said.

The five otter pups Sunshine is with won'tjustbe playmates–aquarium officials say there's a chance she may mate with one of them.

"We’ve got five bachelor candidates. We’re gonna have our own version of the Bachelorette soon and give her an opportunity to see if she wants to breed and hopefully have some river otter pups soon," Wawra said.
