SAN ANTONIO (WOAI/KABB) — Do you remember the cat named Captain we told you about last week? He was reunited with his owner Monday, thanks to some generous folks who saw his story!
Captain had been thought dead by his owner for more than four years, but was found by some kids and taken to an animal shelter in Kerrville. Dr. Shelby Key was able to scan him for a chip and found his owner through social media. The only problem? The owner, a military service member, now lived in Little Rock, Arkansas and needed a way to get his cat delivered to him.

News 4 San Antonio viewer Shelly Sandy reached to the animal shelter after seeing our story and wanted to help. She was planning a trip to Little Rock and decided she could bring Captain to his owner, Butch Meister.
Captain was picked up at the clinic Monday morning at 4:00 a.m. and taken to the airport by Shelly and her husband Jim.
Shelly said that Southwest Airlines was wonderful to them, even giving Captain SWA pilot's wings!
There were greeters and escorts waiting to help all along the way.
SWA pilot Captain Colin Fite and SWA representative Rebecca visited with Captain and Shelly while they waited in Dallas for their connecting flight.
And Captain had a well deserved snack.
"Captain was a wonderful travel companion. He was cool and calm when I had to remove him from his carrier at security screening, and we snuck a quick stretch and snack for him at a more private family restroom in Dallas. He was harnessed and leashed both times for my peace of mind," said Shelly.
Upon arrival in Little Rock, Butch was there waiting for his kitty. Despite Captain's many years on the street, Butch said he's the same sweet kitty.
Don't you just love happy endings?
