PORTLAND, Ore. – First class on Alaska Airlines is about to get sweeter thanks to a new partnership with Salt & Straw Ice Cream.
The Portland-based ice cream company is partnering with the Seattle-based airlines to bring scoops to the skies starting Saturday, June 16.
The new single-serve cups of ice cream are part of the newly launched first class lunch and dinner service on Alaska Airlines flights between the West Coast and East Coast and on flights to Hawaii.
Companies like Salt & Straw really bring to life the West Coast vibe and premium experience we aim to deliver for our guests,” said Brett Catlin, managing director of guest products at Alaska Airlines.
The two flavors that will be offered on board are Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons and Meyer Lemon Custard with Blueberries. Head ice cream maker Tyler Malek chose these as the best two flavors to enjoy at 35,000 feet.
Sale & Straw says more flavors will be available to first class passengers on flights throughout the summer.
