House Democrat Jeffries discusses path forward with Biden amid party and actors' concerns

A top House Democrat had a private meeting with President Joe Biden about a "path forward" after the solo news conference and as concerns from his party and Hollywood about the president grow.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries sent a letter to his colleagues notifying them about the conversation, revealing "expressed the full breadth of insight, heartfelt perspectives and conclusions about the path forward that the Caucus has shared in our recent time together."

On behalf of the House Democratic Caucus, I requested and was graciously granted a private meeting with President Joe Biden. That meeting occurred yesterday evening. In my conversation with President Biden, I directly expressed the full breadth of insight, heartfelt perspectives and conclusions about the path forward that Caucus has shared in our recent time together. As House Democrats have done throughout this Caucus, we will continue to work in the best interests of everyday Americans, the letter read in part.

This comes as a group of Democratic lawmakers have called on Biden to drop out the race and a report of donors freezing up millions of dollars in pledges if he stays on the ticket.

Some Democrats and supporters are worry abut the 81-year-old president and his ability to win the general election against Donald Trump.

Actors have also expressed concern if Biden iscapable of being president.

In a New York Times opinion piece, Democrat George Clooneysaid he loves Biden, but the party would lose the presidential race as well as any in Congress with him as the nominee.

Following Thursday night's high-stakes press conference where Biden assured Americans he was staying in the race, Actor Ashley Judd said she wanted Biden to step aside.

Judd, whose been a Biden supporter,called on Biden to "voluntarily, gracefully step aside" so that his party can support a "talented, robust Democrat" for the presidency inan opinion piece for USA Today.

She worried too that Trump could beat Biden.
