One of the biggest reveals at this year’s Chicago Auto Show was the second-generation Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.

Continuing the revolution in the Range Rover lineup, the Evoque adds some interesting technology, sustainable materials and an available mild-hybri;l./;.d powertrain.

The Evoque is the most city-ready SUV in the Range Rover line with petite proportions and a sleek coupe-like profile.

However, the Evoque wouldn’t be a Land Rover without some off-road chops. In addition to a new adaptive dynamics suspension system, Evoque gets Terrain Response 2 technology, an 8.3-inch ground clearance and a maximum wading depth of 23.6 inches.

One of the cool feature adds in this arena includes ClearSight Ground View, which offers visibility under the front of the vehicle for easier maneuvering.

This new Evoque also has an interesting focus on sustainability – not only with the use of recycled materials including textiles made from wool and Eucalyptus but also with the addition of a mild-hybrid powertrain.

The up-level engine is the 48-volt MHEV powertrain that delivers 296 horsepower and is designed to shut off the engine at speeds under 11 mph while the driver is braking.

The base engine in the Evoque is 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine that delivers 246 horsepower.

The new design maintains the recognizable shape of previous-generation Evoque.

The wheelbase only increases by 0.8 inches, but interior volume increases and includes more rear-seat legroom, foot room and extra cargo space.

Some other interesting features available on the 2020 Evoque include:

  • Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • 4G LTE hotspot
  • InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system
  • Standard Driveline Disconnect system
  • Wireless over-the-air updates
  • Rear camera mirror
  • Smart Settings technology that learns driver’s habits over time

Though the Evoque is a 2020 model, it’ll hit dealers this spring. Base price will be $42,650, excluding destination fees.
