NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —Carly Pearce recently received the surprise of a lifetime! Dolly Parton invited the "Every Little Thing" singer to join the Grand Ole Opry.
Pearce, a former Dollywood employee, thought she was being interviewed for a Dollywood promotion on June 17. Little did she know, her idol Dolly Parton was walking down the hallway to surprise her.
“My earliest memory of Dollywood is going when I was five years old I think and just going to the park for the first time. I always loved Dolly as a kid, so it was just really awesome to go to all the shows and see all the performers and eat all the food and hear Dolly play through the park. Being able to perform there was the most amazing thing as a teenager, loving just the park and loving to" Pearce says before the wonderful interruption.
Dolly walks into the room, and Pearce, in shock, says "Nuh uh!"
“What are you doing? Get in here. Are you doing something for Dollywood or something for Dolly,” Dolly says.
Pearce is speechless, surprised and smiling ear to ear.
“We set this up, so I could kind of walk in on you because I wanted to surprise you. First of all, I just want to tell you how proud I am of you. Do you know that she started singing at Dollywood when she was 16 years old?”
“You do remember that,” Dolly jokes. “Yeah, I do,” laughs Pearce.
“I know that you had told me that you had been on the Grand Ole Opry – 80 times you’ve performed? How do you do that like 80 times,” Dolly says.
Pearce replies, “Oh my goodness, I’m just trying to follow your footsteps.”
Dolly comments, “Well you should be a member of the Grand Ole Opry. What’s wrong with them?”
“I agree,” Pearce says.
“Well, I came here today to tell you, you are now an official member of the Grand Ole Opry," Dolly says.
Pearce starts crying tears of joy as Dolly sings, “It’s official! It’s official!”
“Congratulations! You are now a member. I’ve been at it 50 years on the Opry," Dolly shares.
“Dolly! Are you guys serious?” Pearce cries.
Pearce says the moment is the happiest she's ever been.
"Dreams come true sometimes even better than you dare to dream," the country star tweeted. "I couldn’t be more happy or honored to be the newest member of the Opry."
The Opry induction for Carly Pearce is slated for August 3.
