Vanderbilt University has been fined by the SEC for violating the league’s policy regarding fans entering the field following its football games.

The incident occurred Saturday night after Vanderbilt upset No. 1 Alabama 40-35. The storming of the field was followed by the removal of a goal post and the carrying of it down to the Cumberland River by about 1,000 fans from FirstBank Stadium.

The University of Arkansas is also being fined by the SEC after spectators stormed the field after they beat No. 4 Tennessee.

According to the SEC, Vanderbilt is being fined $100,000 for the first-time offense. Arkansas has been fined $250,000, as this is their second offense under the policy.

Fines go to the opposing team's school, said the SEC.

Teams can be fined as much as $500,000 for a third or subsequent offense.

A GoFundMe account has been started to help pay the Vanderbilt fine.
