SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) -- The final trailer for "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" has arrived. There will be those who delight in the nods to the past with a wink to what the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga might contain. It might be too on the nose to haveC-3PO say, "I'm taking one last look... at my friends," but Star Wars was never known for it subtlety. For many of us, like the golden protocol droid, this is a farewell to characters that we've spent decades of our lives with. Lucasfilm and Disney aren't about to let us forget that.

There's plenty to see here, particularly the emotional embrace between Leia and Rey, but more attention will probably be given to what we hear. Yes, that is the voice of Luke Skywalker and Emperor Palpatine. In Star Wars, the dead have a way of lingering.

Tickets for the film, which is scheduled to open on December 20, 2019, are also officially on sale. While many screenings are already sold out, additional showings will likely be added to accommodate the demand. Still, you might want to check to see if your favorite theater is taking part in the Nine-Film Marathon screenings that start on Wednesday and end with a showing of "The Rise of Skywalker" the following Thursday. That will be your earliest chance to see the film.

Here's a look back at the teaser trailer. Between the two, you can begin to sketch an outline of what might happen. As for me, I'm not going to speculate. I'll wait for the real thing.
