Pat Finn, known for 'The Middle' and 'Friends,' has died at age 60
Pat Finn, a comedic actor known for his roles on “The Middle” and “The George Wendt Show,” has died at age 60.
According to TMZ, Finn died at his Los Angeles home surrounded by his family after a long and difficult cancer battle.
Finn began his career around the same time as the late Chris Farley. Both attended Marquette University in Wisconsin, where they played rugby, and they later moved to Chicago and were roommates when they joined Second City.
In a 2022 interview with Phoenix, Finn recalled meeting Farley, saying they were “inseparable” and would listen “to comedy albums by Steve Martin and National Lampoon.”
He landed his first major role on “The George Wendt Show” in 1995 and later had a recurring role on “Murphy Brown” for several episodes.
Finn also appeared on many other sitcoms including “Seinfeld,” “The Drew Carey Show,” “Friends,” and “The King of Queens.”
He’s perhaps best known to audiences for his role as Bill Norwood on “The Middle,” starring alongside Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn.
Finn married his wife, Donna, in 1990, who he met in college the same time he met Farley. The couple share three children together.
Looking back on his life and career, Finn told Phoenix in 2022, “I always say, if you were to tell me as a college kid or high school kid I’d be living in LA, driving to the beach, surfing with my son, I’d think you were crazy. I don’t know how I fell into it. I feel so fortunate, and it fits. It feels right.”
Our condolences to the Finn family.
