"Dolly Parton's Heartstrings" is an eight-part anthology series "celebrating family, faith and forgiveness." It officially dropped on Friday.
Each episode is based on a Dolly song. The first show in the series is based on her hit "Jolene" and Julianne Hough stars in the episode.Dolly said the stories in this series are meant to tug at your heartstrings. Jolene does just that telling the story of a misfit bartender and aspiring singer hoping to venture out of her small town and see her name under Nashville lights.
The hour-long episode is jam-packed with Dolly’s quick humor, earnest advice and of course, electric singing.
During a special premiere at Dollywood, the star herself said "Hollywood or Dollywood? It's all the same to me!"
“Dreams come true, and I’ve been so blessed to have so many dreams come true, to actually be able to have this come true, and to be able to do it here in my hometown,” Dolly said.
Taking her songs to your screen, the episodes in the series include: These Old Bones, Jolene, Two Doors Down, Cracker Jack, JJ Sneed, If I Had Wings, Down from Dover, and Sugar Hill. Dolly’s favorite? The country queen said it has to be These Old Bones.
