Gaming community shaken by mass shooting at Madden tournament

WASHINGTON (Circa) — In the wake of a mass shooting at a Madden NFL tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. Sunday, players who survived the incident shared their experiences on social media and other gamers expressed solidarity as they struggled to cope with the tragedy.

“Worst day of my life,” said player Young Drini, who was wounded in the thumb during the shooting.

The shooting occurred at the Jacksonville Landing and multiple fatalities were reported. Authorities said afterward one suspect was dead.

“Thank god I’m safe but I’m broken over this,” said player Noble Stevey J after police escorted him from the scene.

Another player was being treated after being shot in the chest and hand.

Several other professional ESports teams offered thoughts and prayers.

Some were distressed to see violence break out at a gaming event, while others called for an increased focus on security in the future.
