WASHINGTON (CIRCA) - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday announced the nominees for the 90th Academy Awards.
AMPAS will reveal the winners of the trophies – commonly known as the Oscars – during a March 4 ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.
This year’s Oscars will celebrate the best films of 2017, and comedian Jimmy Kimmel will host the event revealing the winners for the second consecutive year.
The nominees for Best Picture this awards season are “Call Me By Your Name,” “Darkest Hour,” “Dunkirk,” “Get Out,” “Lady Bird,” “Phantom Thread,” “The Post,” “The Shape of Water” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
The nominees for Best Actor are Timothee Chalamet in “Call Me By Your Name,” Daniel Day-Lewis in “Phantom Thread,” Daniel Kaluuya in “Get Out,” Gary Oldman in “Darkest Hour” and Denzel Washington in “Roman J. Israel, Esq.”
The Best Actress nominees include Sally Hawkins in “The Shape of Water,” Frances McDormand in “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” Margot Robbie in “I, Tonya,” Saoirse Ronan in “Lady Bird” and Meryl Streep in “The Post.”
The Best Director nominees feature Christopher Nolan for “Dunkirk,” Jordan Peele for “Get Out,” Greta Gerwig for “Lady Bird,” Paul Thomas Anderson for “Phantom Thread” and Guillermo del Toro for “The Shape of Water.”
