Charlamagne Tha God to host 'Lift Every Voice' Juneteenth special with musical guests

WASHINGTON (SBG) – The upcoming Juneteenth is going to be special for the Black community as big companies are making the day a paid holiday with plenty of events scheduled.

Live Nation Urban and LiveXLive Media, Inc. in particular are collaborating with Color of Change for a special event called "Lift Every Voice: A Juneteenth Special."

"Juneteenth is the ultimate celebration of Black history and heritage. Live Nation Urban is proud to partner with LiveXLive and Color of Change to bring light to a day that has been revered by African Americans for generations. Its cultural relevance and significance globally cannot be understated," Vice President of Live Nation Urban, Brandon Pankey, told Billboard.

"Lift Every Voice" will be hosted by media personality Charlamagne Tha God along with Gia Peppers as a correspondent for the evening. A wide range of guests are also expected to stop by the event such as T.I., Trae Tha Truth and Vic Mensa, who will be leading discussions on current events.

Through the evening, there will be performances by Common, Mick Jenkins, Justine Skye, Jonathan McReynolds, Joy Oladokun and more.

"We're proud to partner with Live Nation Urban, Color of Change, and these amazing artists for a Juneteenth celebration and discussion of black music and culture," said chairman and CEO of LiveXLive Robert Ellin. "Now more than ever, we must uplift, elevate, and celebrate black voices and unify through the power of music and art."

Since the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, people across the country and world have been protesting for social and justice reform. Society has acknowledge the lake of and major need for diversity and inclusion. Companies are making Juneteenth a company wide holiday and those in the positions of power are now doing what they can to make sure that diversity is at the forefront of the business.
