WASHINGTON (ABC7) — In order to get to the game that resulted in what is now perhaps the biggest win to date in franchise history, two of the Capitals’ most notable players chose to ride Metro.

Forward T.J. Oshie and defenseman Matt Niskanen were spotted riding together on the Metro to get to Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, held at Capital One Arena, on Saturday.

Twitter user @danadaniello took a photo of Oshie while she said she rode on the train with him for one stop, from Metro Center to Gallery Place; she then took a separate picture of Niskanen as he went up the escalator after getting off at Gallery Place.

The user also had a video of both getting off the train itself.

Another Twitter user, @DCSlugginIt, had a video of the pair riding up the escalator.

Both players were in suits, making them stand out among the Capitals fans heading for the same destination.

Niskanen said after the game that their is a Metro station "somewhat near" where he and Oshie live. According to Oshie, the experience of riding the Metro, with all the fans included, was "great."

Oshie and Niskanen possibly chose to ride the Metro at least in part because of street closures for vehicles around Capital One Arena, which are in effect until the day after the potential Game 6 set to be played on June 10.

It’s unclear how Oshie and Niskanen made it home after the game.

The Capitals beat the Vegas Golden Knights, 3-1, in Game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead.
