SHANDON, Calif. (WZTV) -- The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has released details on a bus crash involving the road crew for country and gospel artist Josh Turner.
According to CHP, the bus driver was in the right lane of State Road 46 when "for unknown reasons" he drove off the roadway onto the dirt shoulder Wednesday. The driver then drove through a barbed wire fence and dense vegetation before driving off a 50-foot cliff.
The front of the bus crashed into a dry river bed, ejecting two people, one who died. Seven other people were injured and taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to major.
CHP has identified the man who died as David Turner, a passenger on the bus. There has been no clarification if David Turner is related to Josh Turner. The country artist and his band were not on the bus at the time of the crash.
