CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) - One of Jennifer Garner’s biggest fans has been looking for her across Charleston to ask a simple question – will you be my date?

A video filmed by Charleston-based video production company Filmanatix spotlights the boy’s search as a promotion for the upcoming McGala. The gala is an annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia. The event takes place 6 p.m. March 2 at the Clay Center.

In the video, Collin Pates, 10, from Charleston writes Garner a letter saying, "I love you in the movies. You are very pretty." He ends the letter asking if she would be his date to the event and begins his mission of getting the letter to the Los Angeles-based actress.

Collin travels in the Ronald McDonald House van to George Washington High School where Garner is an alumnus. With no success, Collin searches for Garner at Taylor Books and then the Charleston Light Opera Guild. Finding only a signed photo of Garner, he then travels to Garner’s parents’ home where he meets Bill and Patricia Garner.

"I was wondering if Jennifer can go to the McGala with me. Is she here?" Collin asks.

After being informed Jennifer Garner lives in California, Collin attempts to get catch a flight to Los Angeles out of Yeager Airport with $1 and some candy from his pocket.

The video comes to an end with no sign of Garner. Now, the city waits to see how Garner will answer Collin’s question with the social media hashtag #WillSheSayYes.

The theme for the McGala is “Light Up The Night.” Tickets can be purchased at CharlestonRMHC.org or by calling 304-346-0279.
