Drone video shot in San Francisco during California’s COVID-19 shelter-in-place order shows an empty city with landmarks deserted and streets devoid of traffic.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for the Bay Area on March 17, two days before Gov Gavin Newsom issued a similar order for the whole state on March 19. The Bay Area order was recently extended until May 3, and new restrictions were added to the directive.

Karlyle Smith shot this video on April 7, capturing notable San Francisco locations, including Coit Tower, the Embarcadero, and the curving path on Lombard Street – all, of course, notably empty.

As of April 6, there are a total of 15,865 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 374 deaths in California, according to the state’s Department of Public Health.
