A traffic inspector in Mari El, Russia, jumped into a moving vehicle to stop a drunk driver attempting to escape a traffic stop, according to a video released on December 9 by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In video captured by the dashcam of the patrol vehicle and posted to the ministry’s Twitter page, an officer approaches a car that was pulled over after making a U-turn.

The car then starts to drive away.

The officer gives chase and manages to open the left front door of the car and jump inside as a second officer runs in pursuit of the vehicle.

The officer in the suspect’s car manages to stop the vehicle, and the two officers detain the driver after a brief struggle.

According to local media reports, the intoxicated driver was 16 years old and was driving without a license.
