ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (STORYFUL) - A police officer in Maryland’s Anne Arundel County freed a deer caught between a gate and a fencepost on Sunday, July 28, before gently petting its head.

Video shared by the Anne Arundel County Police Department shows Corporal Bill Strunck pulling the deer by its hind legs to dislodge it. After the deer falls to the ground, Strunck pets its head before giving it a nudge, encouraging it to get back on its feet. The deer then sprints into some bushes.

It is unknown if the deer was seriously injured.
