Little Hawaiian boy not happy about proposed 'big, big' telescope

HAWAII (STORYFUL) -- One little Hawaiian boy is definitely not happy about plans to construct a billion-dollar telescope on Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano that some native Hawaiians consider sacred.

Little Laguna, who is the son of former Hawaii congressman Kaniela Ing, said he felt “so sad” at plans to build a “big, big telescope” on Mauna Kea, which is on the island of Hawaii.

There are already 13 telescopes on top of Mauna Kea, but the new project would construct a Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT), much larger than what is there now.

Protesters blocked access to the site on July 15th and 16th. Others gathered at the State Capitol, in Honolulu.

The project had been due to go ahead in 2015, but was stalled then by appeals and protests.
