Israeli election officials in hazmat suits count ballots from quarantined voters

Israeli election workers in hazmat suits unsealed ballots on March 3 that were cast by voters currently under quarantine for the coronavirus.

This video, posted on Twitter by Israeli journalist Daphna Liel, was originally taken and disseminated by Israel’s Central Elections Committee.

Roughly 4,000 Israelis under home quarantine cast votes in the country’s general election on March 2, in “specially constructed isolation voting booths manned by medics in protective gear,” the Times of Israel reported.

The following day, the committee released video showing plastic-lined ballot boxes being opened for counting.

As of March 3, a total of 12 Israelis had tested positive for COVID-19, as the coronavirus disease is officially known.
