A Florida inmate faced additional felony charges after an assault on a deputy at Orient Road Jail in Tampa, authorities said on January 22.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office released this footage on Wednesday after the alleged assault the previous day. The sheriff’s office said 38-year-old inmate Michler Gabriel refused to step away from a door as the deputy was attempting to open it. When the deputy tried to move him away, Gabriel struck the deputy multiple times, authorities said.

As a result of the incident, Gabriel faced felony charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and battery by a detained person, “on top of his prior charges for driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, armed trafficking and felon in possession of a firearm,” the sheriff’s office said.
