ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (STORYFUL) -- A Florida woman was arrested on June 3rd after security footage allegedly showed her shaking and slapping a child at a childcare facility in Ormond Beach, Florida, on May 23rd.

Katherine Weitz, 65, was charged with three felony counts of an activity that could result in physical or mental injury of a child.

The City of Ormond Beach released video on June 7th that reportedly showed Weitz scolding and roughly handling a child during naptime at Dream City Academy. The room Weitz was in was reserved for one-year-old children, according to an arrest affidavit.

In the video, Weitz is seen sitting near children during a nap period. She responds to one child’s movements by grabbing the their limbs and tossing the child down onto the bed. She is seen grabbing, shaking and slapping the child’s face. She later kicks the bed and adjusts it roughly, causing the child’s head to bounce up and down.

Weitz said she “went a little overboard” with the treatment of the child and attributed her actions to a “terrible headache” she woke up with, according to the affidavit. Weitz, who was fired, was involved in “at least 30 incidents of mistreatment to small children,” the affidavit said.
