A mother of two who survived cancer and a heart transplant has been discharged from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City after recovering from coronavirus (COVID-19), video released by the hospital shows.

“I’m going home today,” said the patient, Oumou Barry, who is from Queens. “I’m so happy.”

“It was very scary for our whole team, she only received her heart in December 2019,” said Dr. Anu Lala, a cardiologist who is now treating COVID-19 patients. “We are really grateful.”

As Barry was wheeled out of the hospital, staff applauded her. “I’m free,” she exclaimed.
