A moose calf was freed from a fence by some “local heroes” near Kirkland Lake, Ontario, footage shared on June 5 shows.

Three videos, posted by Joanne Lamarche, captured the calf’s release. According to Lamarche, she spotted a female moose acting strangely and soon saw that her baby was stuck in a fence while she was on her way to a friend’s house.

She quickly enlisted the help of fire captain Tanner Dickson and firefighter Luc Demers, from the nearby township of Gauthier.

Dickson and Demers got to work on rescuing the animal, under the watchful eye of its concerned mama. Once the baby was freed, it ran away to reunite with its mother.
