COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — Starting Monday, more businesses will be allowed to reopen across the state of Ohio. It could have an impact on your unemployment benefits. The Ohio Department of Job and Family the state is now asking businesses to report those workers who refuse to return to work.

As more businesses across the state reopen their doors, safety will be the focus.

"This is the new normal for us. This is a new normal for everyone,” said Christy Brown an administrator with Merion Village Dental.

Starting on Monday, general office environments across the state can reopen. With more people getting back to work, many are concerned about their health. With daycares and schools shutdown, childcare will be a roadblock for many getting back to work.

Despite countless issues that need to be addressed. This mandate listed on the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services website.

The state is now asking employers to report those workers who refuse to return to work. The Department reporting that Ohio law prohibits people from receiving unemployment benefits if they refuse to accept employment offers or quit without good cause. The department indicating employers need to let them know if an employee refuses to return to work, ODJFS will decide if they are still eligible for unemployment. For many families across Ohio this is yet another hurdle they will have to deal with soon.
