SAN DIEGO, Calif. (WKRC) – A lot of baseball fans say that they remember their first game, but not many have a story like this!

Young Cincinnati Reds fan Abigail was attending her first Major League Baseball game on Saturday night in San Diego.

Her favorite player? Joey Votto! She even has a nice T-Shirt to prove it.

Unfortunately, Joey Votto was ejected from Saturday night's game after arguing with the home plate umpire over his checked swing being called a strike. Reds Manager David Bell was also a part of the argument and was ejected as well.

Votto was ejected in the first inning. Abigail was saddened that she was not going to get to see her favorite player on the field anymore. Abigail was visibly upset at the ejection.

It took a few innings and some popcorn, but Abigail was coming back around. That's when something amazing happened!

Votto had heard about Abigail's plight and decided to try and help. He sent a signed baseball to her seats.

"I am sorry I didn't play the entire game" read the inscription on the ball that also carried Votto's signature.

"Abigail is much happier now and is very excited about her note and ball from her favorite player! We are so thankful for the kindness of Joey Votto and the Reds!!!" said Kristin, Abigail's mother.

And then there's the smile right before bed time.
