Early Monday morning, a Smithfield Police officer on patrol noticed a dark sedan driving the wrong way on I-295.

According to police, the vehicle had front-end damage and the passenger-front tire was rolling on its rim.

The officer was able to stop the car which police say was driven by Janina Ramos Depina, 27, of East Providence.

According to the officer, Depina believed she was in Georgia. She was asked to perform several field sobriety tests and was taken into custody after completing them say police.

The Smithfield Police Department says marijuana was found during the stop, and later Depina refused to submit to chemical testing at the station.

Depina is charged with DUI, refusal to submit to a chemical test, driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana.
