SAN ANTONIO - Two women were arrested for allegedly stealing hundreds of DVD's worth several thousands.

The pair of women admitted to wearing different wigs and stealing DVD's in their purse over several occasions, according to an arrest affidavit.

Kristina Marian Rost, 33, and Theresa Lynn Tagtmeir, 25, are accused of stealing 917 DVDs with an estimated value of $35,118.83. Tagtmeir was arrested June 6 at the Barnes & Noble at 11711 Bandera Road after a large number of thefts were reported in the area since April. Barnes & Noble's regional prevention manager identified the two women that were using different wigs and clothing at least 15 to 20 times at three different stores, according to an arrest affidavit.

The regional manager recognized Tagtmeir when she walked into the store June 6 wearing a pink dress with a large black belt along the waist. Tagtmeir was caught grabbing a stack of DVD's and placing them in her purse, according to an arrest affidavit. When the manager approached her, Tagtmeir panicked and dropped the DVD's.

Tagtmeir confessed to the crime and identified Rost as the accomplice in her thefts. Tagtmeir said they are from Florida and were in Texas to bury her father in Corpus Christi. The pair did not have enough money to live, Tagtmeir said, so they began stealing from different locations and selling the DVD's to CD exchanges around the city.

Tagtmeir admitted to stealing DVD's about 15-20 times. The pair was arrested and faces charge for theft between $30,000 and $150,000.
