VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WSET) -- Can you even imagine?

A couple who got married at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach last month said a real-life wedding crasher stole gifts from them on their big day.

Police said a woman was caught stealing gifts at the Hilton Garden Inn on Atlantic Avenue on May 6.

They said an uninvited woman went up to the second floor and took envelops off the gift table during the wedding.

"It's pretty wild on a person-to-person level," said Rusty Waddell, the groom, to WTKR. "I don't understand how you could do that, especially at a wedding."

Waddell told WTKR that he and his wife were having a great time, but toward the end of the night, the bride's mother noticed a woman she didn't recognize, but thought she was a guest.

She took a photo of the woman and guests told hotel staff who then called police.

It's not clear what she got away with, Waddell said he and his wife are in the process of asking guests if they gave them a gift.

Anyone who recognizes the woman is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
