GIG HARBOR, Wash. -- Police are searching for two or three burglars who smashed their truck into a clothing store in Gig Harbor early Sunday morning.
It was just before 3 a.m. when the thieves arrived at the store in the 6500 block of 43rd Ave. NW, according to Gig Harbor Police Chief Kelly Busey. Surveillance video shows the truck sitting in the parking lot, then crashing into the front of the store.
Busey said the thieves then left the store and waited around a couple hours to see if police showed up, but no alarm was triggered by the crash.
Just before 5 a.m., the thieves returned on foot and walked off with clothes and watches from inside the store, Busey said. However, this time, they trip a burglar alarm, sending officers to the store. However, the thieves were gone by the time officers arrived.
Police recovered the stolen truck used in the burglary on Monday but the thieves remain on the loose. Busey did not have a good description of their suspects.
