Walmart to remove 'Cosmopolitan' magazines from checkout aisles

Walmart will be removing all Cosmopolitan magazines at every checkout aisle as part of its stand against sexual exploitation, according to the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.

The sweep will impact more than 5,000 stores across the country. NCSE says the magazine regularly publishes articles that promote pornography, sexting, BDSM, group sex and more while marketing toward young teens with Disney star cover models.

The group says many national surveys report that a majority of Americans believe that Cosmopolitan's graphic headlines and normalization of sexual objectification peer-pressure young boys and girls to engage in risky sex, which the group says negatively impacts them.

“As with all products in our store, we continue to evaluate our assortment and make changes. Walmart will continue to offer Cosmopolitan to customers that wish to purchase the magazine, but it will no longer be located in the checkout aisles. While this was primarily a business decision, the concerns raised were heard," Walmart said in a statement to Fox News.
