CHANTILLY, Va. (WJLA) - At a polling place in Chantilly, Virginia, first-time voters received special treatment on Election Day.

Volunteers at Brookfield Elementary School rang a cowbell and applauded each time a first-time voter checked in.

ABC7's Mike Carter-Conneen reports the majority of first-time voters were either new citizens or between the ages of 18 and 20 years old.

By early Tuesday afternoon, volunteers estimated around 100 first-time voters had already checked in.
