On Christmas Eve, a Bedford County nurse decided to buy a lottery ticket and keep it in her Bible. Turns out that ticket won her a million dollars.

According to the Virginia Lottery, Jacqueline Mangus bought a ticket for Virginia's New Year's Millionaire Raffle the day before Christmas. She decided to keep it in her Bible.

She was getting ready for her nursing job when she saw the results of the raffle on the news and checked her number. To her surprise, she realized she was a winner.

“I was tickled to death!” she told Virginia Lottery officials.

But more important than claiming her prize was her job. She went to work as normal that day.

According to the Virginia Lottery, she bought her winning ticket at Lake Mart & Deli in Moneta. She joined four other Virginians who bought a ticket in the Virginia's New Year's Millionaire Raffle and took home a million dollars.
