A local Chick-Fil-A employee is getting a lot of attention for going above and beyond his normal duties at the North Hills restaurant.

Mathew Nunez, the hospitality director, was working his normal shift on a rainy day at Chick-Fil-A last week. To keep customers from getting wet, Nunez went outside and held up an umbrella for those walking in and out of the restaurant.

Mark Ramos, a student at Andress High School, captured Nunez on video. It’s video that has gone viral and has been seen more than 2 million times on social media.

On Wednesday, Patti Diaz and Mike Dee with Power 102’s morning show, invited Nunez to talk about his kind gesture. While at the radio station, the team surprised him by inviting Ramos to meet him.

“I’m still in shock, to be honest, I never thought a video would go viral,” Nunez said.

He had no idea someone was taking video of him.

“I see on my Twitter that people are tagging me in a video. Little did I know that a video taken of me was going viral,” Nunez said.

Ramos said he frequents the restaurant and has seen Nunez’s positivity first hand.

“I’m always seeing how he greets everyone with a smile. I want to replicate that when I’m out with my friends and meeting new people,” Ramos said.

Nunez also signed what the radio crew called “positivity umbrellas” to give out to people who were calling the station.

“At Chick-Fil-A, when somebody says 'thank you,' (we respond with) ‘my pleasure, it’s my pleasure to serve,’” Nunez said. And that's how he signed the umbrellas.

Nunez was also gifted an umbrella, a KFOX14 Severe Weather umbrella, signed by his Chick-Fil-A co-workers.
