VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WSET) - A woman in Virginia Beach is facing charges after officials said she drove an ice cream truck while intoxicated and injured three others on July 15, also known as National Ice Cream Day.
According to police, Ellaine Durham was driving an ice cream truck around 6:38 p.m. when she hit an occupied vehicle, leaving three people hurt. The victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A witness told WTKR that Durham hit a tree and then drove off while holding up her broken windshield.
Police located Durham a short distance away from the scene. They said she was charged with a DWI and three counts of felony hit-and-run.
