Two-legged dog named Lieutenant Dan wins Cadbury Bunny contest

NEW RICHMOND, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) –And the winner of the Cadbury Bunny contest is... Lieutenant Dan!

Cadbury made the special announcement on Facebook Tuesday morning.

“Lieutenant Dan was born different, but hasn't let that slow him down! He has a joy for life that is infectious and inspiring!” Cadbury’s website said.

The two-legged coonhound was born without back legs and is named after Gary Sinise's character in “Forrest Gump” who lost his legs in the Vietnam War.

His owners who live in New Richmond, Ohio,adopted him from a rescue in Florida.

Lieutenant Dan posted the exciting news on Instagram.

"This ?? is the newest Cadbury Clucking Bunny!!! ????????. We can not thank everyone enough for all of your support through this process! It has been amazing and we are all so excited and proud of our Lieutenant Dan! @cadburyusa"

Lieutenant Dan will be featured in the 2020 Cadbury Easter commercial.
