ARLINGTON, Va. (WJLA) - It's the season to be scared and jump out of your skin, and this year Spirit Halloween is "Making Halloween Great Again."

"It's become a very popular thing in the current political climate," said Jeremy Simpson, district sales manager for Northern Virginia for the world’s largest Halloween retailer.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton's faces are flying off store shelves, and voters are getting ready to frighten America.

"I think I would choose Trump, because it's funnier and he’s more like a character," said Laura Ellingwood, who was looking for a Halloween costume Monday.

"I think I would choose Hillary," said Amy Curran, of Potomac Falls, Virginia.

Spirit Halloween is re-launching its "Presidential Mask Index," which officials said has accurately predicted the outcome of every presidential election since 1996, based on the top-selling candidate mask.

Simpson said Clinton is leading in sales at the store in Sterling, Virginia. But the New York Post reported Trump is crushing Clinton at a different Halloween store in the East Village in the Big Apple.

"It's almost a dead heat,” Simpson said. “It varies by store, so the location of the store has a lot to do with it."

There are a lot of options to dress as Trump. You could be the "Smirking Candidate" or the "Comb-Over Candidate." There's also the famous "Make America Great Again" hat and "Presidential Bronzer."

On the other side, Clinton fans could dress as "Cackling Clinton" or "Smiling Hillary."

"I just feel either way between Trump or Hillary, they're both not the best candidate," said Shawana Surles, who admitted she is still unsure whom she will vote for.

"Halloween is supposed to be funny or scary, and this whole campaign has been just that," Ellingwood said.

It's been a drama-filled election with two controversial candidates, and possibly Spirit Halloween’s most frightening poll is still too close to call.
