'That's insane! I'm in shock!' Couple discovers forgotten lottery ticket worth $13 million

MELBOURNE, Australia (WKRC) - An Australian couple from Melbourne's Brighton suburb is in disbelief after discovering they had overlooked a lottery ticket worth over $13 million for several days. The couple unknowingly held one of the four division one winning entries from the over $50 million Powerball drawing announced on Sept. 4.
"That's insane! I'm in shock!" the winning wife said when The Lott finally reached the couple. "This is unbelievable. We had no idea, and this whole time the ticket was just sitting on our fridge."
The wife explained that she and her husband had been "really busy," causing them to forget to check their Powerball ticket. The winning numbers, chosen by chance, included her lucky number and some family birthdays and anniversaries. "Oh wow. It was just a QuickPick, but I see my lucky number is here, and some family birthdays and anniversaries. It was meant to be," she said.
The couple, who have "worked really hard" throughout their lives, plan to use their winnings to support their children and grandchildren and hope to buy themselves a "little house." The wife joked about her newfound fortune, saying, "Heck! I don't know if I should keep working or retire. I've had a radical change of plans for the day, that's for sure. It will take a long time for this to sink in."
