Texas deputies: Intoxicated driver arrested for driving with lit BBQ pit

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (WOAI) — The Harris County Sheriff's Office in Texas arrested a man after it was discovered he was driving under the influence with a lit BBQ pit in the bed of his truck creating a large fire, according to a press release.

Deputies responded to the 21400 block of Aldine Westfield Rd. in reference to reports of a truck on fire on Jan. 5.

Jay Rojas,40, was identified as the driver anddisplayed signs of intoxication, authorities said.

A sobriety test was conducted in which Rojas failed. Deputies said they discovered he was also in possession of cocaine.

"Jay Rojas was arrested and booked in the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Possession of a Controlled Substance. His bond and court information have not been set at this time," Constable Mark Herman said.
