CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Taco Bell announced a new limited-time hot sauce inspired by a musician's family recipe.
Taco Bell announced their collaboration with Grammy-nominated musician Omar Apollo and the introduction of the new Disha Hot sauce "inspired by a homemade recipe passed down for generations."
The sauce was based on a recipe from Omar Apollo's mother, and Taco Bell describes it as "a rich, smoky balance of heat and flavor."
"After Omar’s parents emigrated from Guadalajara to the U.S, they opened a small Mexican restaurant, El Super Taco, where Omar’s mother made the Disha Hot sauce recipe their house sauce," a press release from Taco Bell read. "Omar’s parents dreamed of sharing their food and recipes through their restaurant, but unfortunately the business had to shut down after Omar was born."
Now Omar's mother's recipe can be enjoyed by hundreds of thousands mouths across the nation, as Disha Hot will be offered "while supplies last" beginning on Sept. 24 for members and Sept. 26 for everyone else.
“Our sauce packets are more than just condiments; they’re a beloved part of the Taco Bell experience," said Taco Bell's Chief Marketing Officer, Taylor Montgomery. "When Omar shared the story of his family’s Disha Hot sauce and its unique, personal flavors, we knew this was the kind of meaningful partnership our fans would love."
The sauce is made of roasted tomatillos, white vinegar, peppers, onions tomatoes, lime juice, and a "family-secret spice blend," which the company said gives it a "blend of tradition and modern taste."
